Moving from Racism to Gracism: Where Do We Go From Here? 

*Observations from George Barna: 

 1. Racial tension exists not only in our country at large but also among Christians. 

 2. Racial reconciliation is hard work. 

 3. Those of us who are older need to follow the lead of those who are younger when it comes to racial reconciliation. 

  *A Strategy from Brenda Salter McNeal: 

 1. Communicate 

 2. Advocate 

 3. Relate 

 4. Educate 

 *The Parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37) 

 1. An emphasis throughout this lesson is on action and “doing.” 

 2. This parable will not let us avert our eyes. 

 3. The love command is central in the teaching of Jesus. 

 4. Jesus will not allow boundaries to be set so that people may feel they have completed their obligation to God. 

 5. This parable underscores that compassion and mercy are key factors in being a disciple of Jesus. 

 6. We must resist the temptation of seeking to “justify ourselves.”

“From Racism to Gracism: Five Theological Truths”

  1. Every human being is created in the image and likeness of God. (Genesis 1:26-27)
  2. God is responsible for every race. (Genesis 11:1-9; Acts 17:26)
  3. God does not show favoritism, and neither must we. (Romans 2:11; James 2:1, 8-9)
  4. Every race will be represented in heaven. (Revelation 7:9)
  5. We are commanded to share Jesus with everyone. (Matthew 28:19)
